There are numerous opportunities for the practice of different sports in the areas surrounding Trieste:

The Karst is a natural heritage that dates back to 100 million years ago and is characterised by easily permeable white limestone and therefore rich in cavities and caves: around Trieste there are currently close to 3,000 caves, including the huge Grotta Gigante which is the largest tourist cave in the world according to the Guinness World Records. The areas surrounding the city are therefore characterised by an incredible variety of flora and fauna and provide the ideal setting for walks and bicycle rides.
On the region’s rivers there is also the opportunity to practice rafting and to go exploring with kayaks or canoes.
